Cultured pearls are the "pure" gemstone, one that promotes healing, charity and faith. Real pearls are mentioned referred several times in religious scriptures as the gemstone that represents luxury and elegance. Even today, the renowned writer John Steinbeck published a classic book called "The Pearl." The natural pearl has a definite impact on the social and religious culture.
Although the pearl is not a gemstone, their value is that of a rare precious stone. This is because the pearl grows after many years under highly specific conditions. But not all pearls are created equal. Essentially pearls can be grown from any kind of bivalve mollusk, but unless formed under right conditions, the pearl will form a pearl without that valuable iridescence or luster. Cultured pearls are amongst the marine treasures, along with the precious abalone.

These bright pink freshwater pearls are in a distinct potato baroque shape which lends perfectly well with earthy gemstones such as turquoise or aqua blue amethysts. Each measures approximately 5mm x 6mm in size and suspends on a full 16 inch strand. Please note these measurements will vary slightly.
