The mookaite stone is a type of jasper found only in western Australia. These mookaite beads are imbued with the wild nature of that landscape, browns and greens broken up by fiery red. Sometimes the mookaite stone is wrongly classified as a chalcedony, opalite, or chert, and its name, mookaite, comes from the Mooka area where it is most often found. The name mookaite is an unofficial term for radiolarite found in the Mooka area of western Australia. Mookaite is an untamed stone that would fit nicely with necklaces or bracelets that are nature-inspired.
The mookaite stone is used in a variety of Australian Aboriginal ceremonies. The Aboriginal peoples of Australia know the mookaite stone to be a grounding force, especially when facing big decisions or times of stress. Like the earth from whence it came, the mookaite stone is a powerful substance.
