Mookaite stones are named after the Western Australian Mooka Creek, where they are often mined. Mookaite, also called "mooka," the Aboriginal term for "running waters," are made up of the skeletal remains of microscopic protozoa that over time, deposited in receding waters. The remains are what we call today mookaite jasper.
These extravagant colorful layers of reds, creamy whites, mauve, burgundy create a truly one-of-a-kind look. The ametrine, a fellow multi-colored gemstone, is a beautiful dichotomy of citrine and amethyst. The purples of the amethyst and chiffon yellow of citrines can be found on the many layers of these mookaite nuggets. The mookaite jasper are unparalleled to any other gemstone because it practically captures the beauty of all the gemstones in the world.
