These cultured pearls are a fantastically buoyant violet pink color, almost metallic in their sheen and all one of a kind. These colored pearls also feature some blisters in spots, making each pearl totally unique and very eye catching given their intriguing texture. These cultured pearls were created when something was inserted into the shell of a mollusk and the mollusk, in an effort to protect itself, started covering the intrusion in layer upon layer of nacre, or mother of pearl. This is how all real pearls are made, but cultured ones were usually started by a person instead of by accident.
It can take two to three years for a mollusk to complete one real pearl. With that kind of time and dedication gone into making them, it is no surprise how beautiful and affirming cultured pearls can be.
