Sugilite gem is a rare type of gemstone that can only be found in the Kalahari region in South Africa. These sugilite stones are made even more rare by the fact that they are only mined from the depths of the Wessels mine. True sugilite crystals can be distinguished from their fake, dyed, counterparts by their gorgeous color. It's this color, the marbled mixture of rich dark purples, as well as their rarity that makes the sugilite gem very expensive and difficult to find.
Adorn these stunning purple sugilite gems by placing them on gold ornaments, which elevates the royal feel provided by the royal purple color. Adding a simple black band with a minimalistic gold ornament, or even just the sugilite stone by itself, will leave you with a beautiful minimalistic necklace. Due to their unique color, they are best left by themselves in jewelry, or accented with soft blue-green stones, such as a soft turquoise.
