The Owyhee opal comes from nearby the Owyhee river in Oregon. The Oregon opal comes in all the colors of a glacier, from almost white to a deep, rich blue. These faceted teardrops are tears from the sky, raining down on the earth and bringing new life. The Owyhee opal is a relative newcomer on the gemstone scene, having just been discovered in 2002. But just because these opal beads have not been known for very long does not mean that they have not already accrued a host of significance.
The Owyhee opal has been described by some people as having a celestial vibration, in tune with the higher planes and helping those who wear it to be in tune as well. With its dynamic blue color, the Owyhee opal almost does seem to come from heaven, and this picture does not do justice to how vigorous and electrifying the Oregon opal looks in the light.
